Ortega allows the entry of soldiers and aircraft from other countries

Tegucigalpa, (BLAZETRENDS).- The president of Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega, gave the green light to the entry into the country of troops, ships and planes of the Armed Forces of Russia as of July 1, as well as the United States, Cuba and Venezuela, the Official Gazette La Gaceta reported on Thursday.

The Nicaraguan leader, an ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin, issued a presidential decree through which he allows the entry of an unestablished number of foreign military personnel into Nicaragua.

The purpose of this measure is “exchange and humanitarian assistance for mutual benefit, in case of emergency situations”, during the second half of 2023.

“The transit or stationing in the national territory of military personnel, ships and aircraft of the armed forces of the Russian Federation, Mexico, Venezuela, the United States, Cuba and the Armed Forces and Armies of the Conference of Central American Armed Forces is authorized. , (Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras and the Dominican Republic)”, the decree specified.

Ortega approved the entry into Nicaragua of Russian troops during the second half of this year.

The Russian presence was to participate in operations “in a training and exchange exercise in humanitarian aid operations, search, rescue and rescue missions in emergency situations or natural disasters”, with the Humanitarian and Rescue Unit of the Nicaraguan Army.

It also authorized the entry into Nicaragua of personnel from the Russian Armed Forces “to participate in training and exchange exercises in humanitarian aid operations, search, rescue and rescue missions in emergency situations or natural disasters.”

Likewise, President Ortega facilitated the entry into Nicaragua of Russian troops “to carry out exchange of experiences, training, operations against illegal acts in maritime spaces in the Caribbean Sea and jurisdictional waters in the Pacific Ocean of Nicaragua, with the Naval Force ” from Nicaragua.

In total, Ortega approved that an unknown number of Russian soldiers, ships and planes enter Nicaragua from July 1 to December 31 of this year.

The Russian clothes will aim, among other things, at the “exchange of experience and training in security work.”

There could also be troops from Cuba, the US, Mexico and Venezuela

In the same decree, Ortega authorized for six months, starting next July, the entry into national territory of Mexican personnel, ships, and aircraft.

The presence of the Mexicans will be to participate in exercises with humanitarian purposes, training, instruction and exchange of experiences with members of the Nicaraguan Army.

Also of another 50 Venezuelan military to participate in exchange and training in security work, planning humanitarian aid exercises and care.

It also gave the green light to the entry of Cuban military.

In the case of the United States, the president gave his approval for “the entry into the national territory, previously planned and coordinated with the Nicaraguan Army, of personnel from the Armed Forces, ships and aircraft of the United States of America, in order to dock at ports and land at national airports to carry out humanitarian aid operations and search, rescue and rescue missions in emergency situations or natural disasters, by air, sea and land”.
