Orion captures the Moon next to the Earth from its maximum distance

The POT has released this image sent by the Orion mission spacecraft Artemis I in which the Moon and the Earth appear at the stage of furthest distance from our planet.

Nearing the predicted mark of 270,000 miles away (434,522 kilometers) the Orion spacecraft’s camera was looking at Earth and the Moon from a distant retrograde orbit. This milestone corresponds to the equator of the Artemis 1 mission.

Orion entered a orbit distant lunar moon on Friday, November 25, where the spacecraft will stay for about a week to test the systems in a deep-space environment about 65,000 kilometers above the lunar surface before beginning the return journey to the Land.
