OPPO has officially unveiled ColorOS 16, its latest operating system, promising significant performance enhancements and a refined user experience driven by new proprietary technologies and a comprehensive update rollout.
The Chinese technology firm claims ColorOS 16 enables apps to open 28% faster, reduces application loading times by 21%, and cuts Central Processing Unit (CPU) usage during general operation by 14%.
These improvements are attributed to two new proprietary technologies: the Luminous Rendering Engine and the Trinity Engine.
The Luminous Rendering Engine manages all visual elements, ensuring smooth user interface transitions and maintaining stable performance even under heavy usage, such as running multiple applications.
The Trinity Engine optimizes system resources at the chipset level. It intelligently allocates resources, accelerates performance during multi-app use, and enhances power management.
OPPO’s upcoming Find X9 series flagship smartphones will be the first devices to feature ColorOS 16 pre-installed, set to launch on October 16, 2025.
A wider rollout of the new operating system to existing OPPO and OnePlus devices is scheduled to begin in late October 2025, initially targeting users in China.
The design of ColorOS 16 draws inspiration from nature, emphasizing interplay between light and shadow.
The update introduces a range of new user-facing features and system applications.
Enhancements include support for animated images and videos on the lock screen, expanded font selection options for screen customization, and more Always On Display (AOD) choices.
The new Flux Home Screen allows users to resize folders and icons. Live Alerts integrate with various applications to display information and system status around the selfie camera area.
ColorOS 16 also integrates a suite of artificial intelligence (AI) tools for photo editing. These include AI Eraser, AI Unblur, AI Reflection Remover, and AI Portrait Glow.
The O+ Connect feature has been upgraded to facilitate smoother notification synchronization, file transfers, and data management between OPPO devices and both Mac and Windows personal computers.
The update schedule for eligible devices in China extends through early 2026.
Major device series like the Find N5, Find X8 Ultra, and OnePlus 13 are slated to receive the update starting October 30, 2025. Further updates for the Find N3, Find X7, and Reno14 series, alongside other OnePlus and OPPO Pad models, are planned for November 2025.
December 2025 will see updates for the Find N2 Flip, Find X6, and OnePlus 11 series. The rollout concludes in January 2026, encompassing devices such as the Find X5 Pro, Reno12, and OnePlus 10 Pro.
