Let’s get straight to it. OPPO just dropped two new smartphones, the A5i and A5i Pro, without much fanfare. These devices are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 1 chip, which is basically a rebranded Snapdragon 662 used in the A5 Pro 4G. This chip boasts an 11-nanometer process and a top speed of 2.1 GHz.
Both phones feature an LCD display with HD+ resolution, supporting a refresh rate of up to 90 Hz for silky-smooth visuals, a peak brightness of 1,000 nits, and anti-reflective coating for outdoor use. The Pro model takes it up a notch with an IPS LCD panel, offering more vivid colors and better overall image quality.
Durability is also a major focus here. The A5i and A5i Pro have China Southern Glass and Panda Glass on both the front and back, meeting the MIL-STD-810H military standard for withstanding extreme temperatures, humidity, dust, sand, and vibration. They also come with SGS certification for withstanding drops.
The A5i has IP54 rating, protecting against dust and water splashes, while the A5i Pro boasts an IP65 rating, shielding against water jets from any direction. Both phones can handle wet fingers, too.
In terms of battery life, the A5i packs a 5,100 mAh cell, which OPPO claims will retain at least 80% of its capacity after four years. It also supports 45W fast charging. The A5i Pro, on the other hand, has a larger 6,000 mAh silicon-carbon battery.
The A5i measures 7.68 mm thick and weighs 186 grams, while the A5i Pro is slightly thicker at 7.99 mm and heavier at 193 grams.
Camera-wise, the A5i has an 8-megapixel primary sensor (f/2.0) and a 5-megapixel front camera, capable of recording 1080p video at 30 fps. The A5i Pro upgrades the primary camera to a 50-megapixel sensor (f/1.85).
Under the hood, both phones run on the Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 1 chip. The A5i comes with 4/6 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 64/128 GB of eMMC 5.1 storage, while the A5i Pro has 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128 GB of faster UFS 2.1 storage.
The A5i Pro will be available in the Philippines on June 20, 2025, priced at 9,000 Philippine pesos. The A5i, on the other hand, comes in Starry Purple and Nebula Red, but its release date is still unknown.
