OPPO A16 goes official with Helio G35, triple camera and 5000mAh battery

The OPPO A16 has been in the news since the end of May. The entry-level smartphone is finally official in Indonesia. It comes with an entry-level MediaTek chipset, a triple camera setup, and an awesome battery. Let’s take a detailed look at the specifications, price, and availability of the new smartphone from OPPO.

The newly released OPPO A16 has a plastic build like any other affordable smartphone. It measures 163.8 x 75.6 x 8.4mm and weighs 190g. The device is available in three colors: Pearl Blue, Space Silver, and Crystal Black.

On the front, the phone has a 6.52-inch LCD display with a resolution of 720×1600 pixels (HD+), 269 PPI and a refresh rate of 60 Hz, and a touch sample rate of 60 Hz. The display has an NTSC color gamut of 71%, the contrast of 1500:1 (typical), the brightness of 480 nits (typical), screen-to-body ratio of 88.7%, and a teardrop notch.

Inside, the device contains a MediaTek Helio G35 SoC combined with 3GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 32GB of eMMC 5.1 storage. There is also a 5,000mAh battery that supports a standard 10W charge. As for the software, the device is running ColorOS 11.1 based on Android 11.

As for its cameras, the back panel of the smartphone has a triple camera setup consisting of a 13MP main sensor, 2MP monochrome sensor, and 2MP macro sensor. While, for selfies and video calls, the device uses an 8MP camera.

In terms of connectivity, the phone supports dual SIM, 4G, dual WiFi band, Bluetooth 5.0, GNSS, USB Type-C port, and a headphone jack.

Other features include a MicroSD card slot and sensors such as an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, compass, proximity sensor, and side fingerprint sensor.

TheOPPO A16 is priced at IDR 1,999,000 in Indonesia (Around 138 dollars). There is no official information from the company on the availability of this smartphone in other markets. However, it may be released as OPPO A37 (2021).
