Open AI plans to launch a marketplace for applications of artificial intelligence (AI). According to publish The Informationciting sources close to the company, the marketplace would allow developers to sell their AI models built on the company’s own technology.
Specifically, the purpose of the marketplace will cater to enterprise customers who often use OpenAI’s ChatGPT technology for specific use cases such as fraud detection or market research. The models created by these developers could be made available to other companies through the marketplace.
Details are scarce, but according to the publication, Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, met with developers in London to discuss the issue. If developed, this marketplace could compete with existing app stores operated by OpenAI customers and technology partners, including salesforce and Microsoft. Besides, it could also help the creators of ChatGPT to achieve a more favorable position in the market.
The first two interested in selling their models would be quantity and Khan Academyas revealed The Information. The first, an enterprise software provider, implemented ChatGPT in one of its customer service-focused applications.
