OnePlus wants to enter a new segment of smartphones

In 2020, the CEO of OnePlus assured that the brand did not plan to launch any folding smartphone.

But, two years later, the official seems to have changed his mind and in a Twitter post he asked his users for their opinion.

OnePlus Fold on the way?

In 2020, Pete Lau, CEO of OnePlus, assured that the company would not launch any folding smartphone and indeed it did not launch it that year, nor in 2021. But everything could change in 2022.

On his Twitter account, the senior manager published two photos that appear to belong to a folding smartphone, accompanied by the phrase “What do you think of this?”

He quickly received answers and especially in the sense that the brand is preparing to launch a folding model that is now known as OnePlus Fold.

Pete Lau’s timing for this post also helps reinforce the idea that the brand may have a foldable on the way.

Let’s see, this week Samsung, Xiaomi and Motorola unveiled their new models in this segment and that is why all the attention (and news) is focused on folding smartphones.

On the other hand, OPPO Find N, a company belonging to the BBK group like OnePlus, is receiving more and more good reviews, showing that it is possible to manufacture more and better models.

It is also recalled that previously Gary Chen, head of the OnePlus software department, suggested that a foldable smartphone from the brand could run the OxygenOS 13 interface, based on the Android 13 operating system. This statement further reinforces the idea that OnePlus will even make this launch between the end of this year and the beginning of 2023.

Two more OPPO foldable smartphones by the end of the year

Meanwhile, other rumors suggest that OPPO is preparing to launch two new folding models that could arrive later this year, closer to Christmas time, similar to the OPPO Find N.

According to rumors, the devices may bear the OPPO Find N Fold and Find N Flip designations and integrate Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor.

Both models are also said to already be running the ColorOS 13 interface, based on the Android 13 operating system.
