The OnePlus Nord 2 5G has just been formalized by OnePlus in a simple press release. The manufacturer doesn’t go into details, as it wants to highlight its new SoC: the Dimension 1200-AI.
Designed in partnership with MediaTek, the Dimensity 1200-AI has two main advantages. It allows OnePlus to design an SoC according to your needs, in the first place, because it is a customized version of Dimensity 1200 already present in some smartphones. Second, it must allow the OnePlus to save on manufacturing and therefore offer a more attractive price.
The OnePlus Nord 2 5G will therefore be the first smartphone to run the Dimensity 1200-AI, but also the first for the brand to not use the Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. Let’s not be surprised, since the presence of this SoC had already been leaked in the past.
The Dimensity 1200-AI SoC should provide interesting performance, especially in terms of optimization. OnePlus actually evokes AI to assist the user in part of the photo, for example with the ability to recognize a particular scene according to what is in front of the lens. The brand also promises the appearance of HDR effects directly during video recording and also the adjustment of certain parameters in real-time.
The press release also mentions several interesting little things on paper, like automatically adjusting the display colors according to what’s displayed, but also better in-game performance and smarter consumption. Of course, it will be necessary to verify all this in future testing.
For a while, the OnePlus Nord 2 5G reveals nothing else. Leaks, however, suggest a 6.4-inch AMOLED screen with a 90Hz refresh rate, 4500 mAh battery, and a camera module with three sensors including a 50 megapixel main. We still have to be a little patient to know if all these leaks are real or not.
