OnePlus unveiled the range of smartphones cousin OnePlus 9 at the beginning of the year. It did so with due pomp and circumstance, backed by the recent partnership with legendary Swedish camera maker, Hasselblad. Now, for their Android smartphones it brings one of the most requested functions by users, the XPan Mode.
The Chinese manufacturer made headlines when the world learned of this partnership with Hasselblad. However, smartphones didn’t impress users, and neither did DxOMark, the authority on sensor and digital camera reviews, as well as smartphones. However, OnePlus has improved the cameras of its mobile devices.
Hasselblad XPan mode has arrived on the OnePlus 9 camera
Available starting today for the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro smartphones, XPan mode allows users to create more immersive visual narratives and narratives. Harness the wisdom of XPan Mode by channeling your energy into street photography / documentary photography.
According to OnePlus, the new mode wants to improve the experience of using the cameras of both smartphones of this higher range. For the user, it will thus be possible to use the mode that simulates this 35mm format, a tradition inherited from Hasselblad cameras.
In practice, they will be able to switch between Full Panorama and Normal Photo mode, without having to switch modes from the camera app. Therefore, it will be easier to take advantage of two focal lengths for different scenarios and creative purposes.
Coming to the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro smartphones
We will thus have different fields of view, as well as different frames. All so that the user can create the desired visual narrative from their OnePlus smartphone. This new mode will be present in the native camera application.
In short, we have two focal lengths at one click distance. The XPan Mod offers, in effect, a focal length equivalent to 30 mm, as well as 45 mm if the user needs to move away or get closer to the object to be photographed.
Finally, according to OnePlus, this new XPan Mod can replicate the experience of using a Hasselblad XPan camera, with more benefits included.
There are new image capture options on OnePlus smartphones
When using this mode, images will default to an aspect ratio of 65:24. This is another of the configurations that aims to replicate the experience of capturing images with XPan cameras. Each image will have a resolution slightly higher than 20 MP.
This is possible through cropped images captured by the 48 MP (main) and 50 MP (ultra-wide) cameras on the OnePlus 9 smartphones. The exact resolution will be 7552 × 2798 pixels at 30mm and 7872 × 2916. to 45 mm.
Finally, we also have a preset color for Black and White. In this XPan mode, the screen will normally open in black and white, but it can be changed to color if the user so wishes. According to OnePlus, the goal here is to simulate the nostalgic experience of using a Hasselblad XPan camera.
The update is currently being distributed via OTA (through the air) for the OnePlus 9 range.
