Does OnePlus feel threatened by the arrival of the Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro? According to our colleagues from the Android Police site, the manufacturer has lowered the prices of the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro in the United States, to be more competitive against the latest products from Google.
As you know, Google occupied the media scene this Tuesday, October 19, 2021 by unveiling its brand new Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. The two devices stand out above all for a new and original design, a Tensor SoC developed by the Mountain View firm, a 120 Hz LTP screen and a camera boosted with artificial intelligence, a field in which the company excels.
On the price side, the two smartphones are positioned from the outset as high-end smartphones, but accessible. Indeed, the Pixel 6 is trading from $ 599 (€ 649 in France) while it will cost $ 849 (€ 899) for the Pixel 6 Pro. With this price list, Google comes to walk on the flower beds of a certain OnePlus, which for years now occupies an important place in the economy flagship market.
OnePlus reviews the prices of the OnePlus 9 to counter the Pixel 6
Now and according to our colleagues from Android Police, The arrival of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro in the US market has prompted OnePlus to take action. Indeed, journalists have spotted significant price reductions for the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro at major US resellers such as Amazon or Best Buy. The OnePlus 9 rose to $ 599, which is the exact price of the Pixel 6, while the 9 Pro saw its price drop to $ 799, or $ 100 less than requested for the Pixel 6 Pro.
“The price drop for the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro to $ 599 and $ 799 respectively is no coincidence. Google is aggressive when it comes to pricing and OnePlus cannot afford to lose any share in the economy flagship market it previously dominated ”, Android Police journalist Prasham Parikh explains on Twitter. Everything suggests for the moment that this is a temporary price drop.
The four devices have arguments to sell, the OnePlus 9, for example, have a 65W faster wired charging, against 30W only in the Pixel 6. On the other hand, the Pixels have a more generous battery than its two competitors, namely batteries of 4615 mAh and 5000 mAh against 4500 mAh for the flagships of OnePlus. Still, with this new price list, OnePlus could well convince users interested in the Pixel 6 to turn to their latest devices.
