Sixteen people were injured and one missing is the main number of victims in a fire and subsequent explosion at Sweden’s largest amusement park. Although the flames were strong, no one expected what would happen.
Tragedy at a water park
The missing person in question “is working on the project” to expand the “Liseberg” amusement park with a new room with water, the management of the facility said in a statement. It was the area where the fire started.
Images captured by local media show fireballs engulfing the terrain and a dark cloud of smoke over the city.
It was “a building fire that will take time to extinguish,” and the extinguishing work would last until Tuesday morningsaid the Gothenburg emergency services, who stated that “a little smoke” was still coming from the area.
The cause and extent of the damage are still unclear, the police said.
“A major fire was reported at the Liseberg Oceana water park (…), the fire started in one of the water attractions outside the building and spread to the entire property.”the park said in a statement.
