Carlos Alcaraz continues to collect praise in the world of tennis after winning the title at the Mutua Madrid Open after defeating Rafa Nadal in the tournament in the quarterfinals, Novak Djokovic in the semifinals and Alexander Zverev in the tournament final.
The latest of these accolades comes from Belgium’s Justine Heninone of the great legends of women’s tennis, who has not hesitated to make a curious comparison between the phenomenon of El Palmar and the great figures of tennis. Speaking to the Belgian outlet Le Soir, Henin was amazed when talking about the Alcaraz game: “There are many things that impress me about him. He is 19 years old but he shows incredible maturity! His speed of learning is also incredible. Day by day you see that his tennis is evolving, those little mistakes he makes, and it’s progressing fast. The comparisons are tempting, but starting to talk about breaking Grand Slam records now is a bit relevant, it’s just starting.”
Henin is also emphatic when talking about Alcaraz’s style of play, comparing it to the great figures of men’s tennis. “He has started with a very good base. At the game level, Carlos Alcaraz seems to me more complete than Nadal, Federer or Djokovic. He strikes me as a good mix of all three. The comparison with Nadal in terms of tennis is not worth it. Both have been very early, “said Henin, who already places Alcaraz at the height of the great tennis figures due to his level of play.
