Pop star Olivia Rodrigo has released a new music video for her cover of “The Book of Love,” featuring raw footage filmed entirely by children living in active conflict zones. The project, officially released worldwide on March 6, 2026, aims to raise funds for the global nonprofit War Child UK to support children facing displacement and war.
The visual accompaniment for The Magnetic Fields cover diverges from traditional pop productions. Rodrigo does not appear on screen. Instead, her soft ballad and string accompaniment serve as the soundtrack for first-person clips captured by children in Gaza, Ukraine, Sudan, and Yemen. The footage documents their daily realities, showing kids playing in open fields and laughing, alongside stark contrasts of rubble and the sounds of planes overhead.
The music video was helmed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Jonathan Glazer, acting as creative director, and director Billy Boyd Cape. Glazer conceptualized handing cameras directly to children to remove adult influence and capture their resilience amidst devastation.
Rodrigo’s track is part of War Child Records’ new 23-track compilation charity album titled Help(2), featuring contributions from 33 high-profile artists including Arctic Monkeys, Depeche Mode, Pulp, Damon Albarn, and Wet Leg. The album serves as a direct sequel to the original 1995 Help album, which raised over £1.25 million to support children during the Bosnian War.
Producer James Ford, who oversaw the Help(2) sessions at Abbey Road Studios in November 2025, described Rodrigo’s recording as a live session with a full string section. Speaking to Billboard, Ford stated, “She was such a pro and was happy to take a gung-ho approach to it. She just walked into the studio and nailed it.”
All proceeds from the Help(2) album are directed to fund mental health support, education, and protection for children in conflict zones.
