Oil production: Russia overtakes US

Moscow: Russia became the world’s largest oil producer in September, surpassing the United States.

According to Russian media, the National Statistics Service says that in September 2021, Russia surpassed the United States to become the world’s largest oil producer.

The report said that Moscow produced 10.45 million barrels of oil per day in July, while the United States produced 11.31 million barrels per day in the same period.

Russia’s production fell to 10.4 million barrels per day in August, compared to 11.14 million barrels per day in the United States. Russia’s production rose to 10.73 million barrels per day in September, while US production fell to 10.72 million barrels per day.

Russia produced a total of 387.8 million tons of oil from January to September 2021, an increase of 0.1 percent year-on-year.

September production rose 8.1 percent year-on-year to 44.1 million tonnes in January. Russia’s oil exports fell 5.8 percent to 171.4 million tons in September, accounting for 44.2 percent of the country’s production.
