Sébastien Ogier sealed his seventh Rally de Portugal win with a nail-biting performance on the final special stage in Fafe. The 11.18km power stage, featuring the infamous “pedra sentada” jump, was all that stood between Ogier and another WRC victory. He finished the 24 special stages with a total time of 3h48:35.9, edging out Ott Tänak by a mere 8.7 seconds and Kalle Rovanperä by 12.2 seconds.
Championship Standings
The victory catapulted Ogier to third in the championship standings, just 22 points behind him and 30 behind leader Elfyn Evans. Evans, who finished sixth today, retains the top spot with 118 points.
Tänak’s second-place finish and Rovanperä’s third-place finish kept them in contention, but Evans’ consistency has been key to his championship lead.
The FIA World Rally Championship shared a post on X, saying, “Sébastien Ogier and Vincent Landais strike again! Another masterclass in Portugal and a record-extending seventh win for Ogier.”
