Not bad for a recent retiree. Although he has retired from the World Rally Championship as a full-time driver, Sebastien Ogier has had a hectic few days. After having an exciting duel against Loeb at the Monte Carlo Rally, the eight-time world champion he flew in a private plane to Aragon to pilot the Toyota GR10 Hybrid at Le Mans for the second time.
In the Motorland circuit has been developed a three-day test of the resistance team that Ogier attended. After testing the Le Mans car for the first time in the ‘roockies’ test in Bahrain last November, it has now been the Aragonese track where he has driven the Japanese Hypercar again. It is a new approach to the mythical French test, although it does not mean much less that he will compete in it at the wheel of the official vehicle.
In fact, the lineup of drivers that will defend the official colors of Toyota is already made up, and the Frenchman is not in them. Kamui Kobayashi will combine piloting tasks with directing the formation, and will share car number 7 with Mike Conway and ‘Pechito’ López, while vehicle number 8 will go to Sebastien Buemi, Brendon Hartley and Ryo Hirakawa.
The probability that sounds the most for Ogier in his first season in resistance is that it competes with a vehicle of the LMP2 category to acclimatize to the specialty. The Frenchman has not yet confirmed his program for this season, which will be announced next February, as stated in Monte Carlo. There is not only expectation to know his agenda on circuits, but also what will be the four rallies in which he will compete in addition to the Monegasque appointment.
