The fall of the first LaLiga coach was not long in coming. Villareal have officially announced that Quique Setién is no longer the first-team coach.
The “Groguet” group has issued a statement announcing the departure of the Cantabrian coach. Villareal excelled “great professionalism and commitment” by the Spanish coach.
“The team had a great season under the Cantabrian coach, developing many young players from the academy and qualifying for the UEFA Europa League after finishing fifth in LaLiga.”it says in the statement.
That’s why they also thanked Setién “his work and commitment” and wished “Good luck in your sporting career.”
Villareal has also announced that the The club’s director of football, Miguel Ángel Tena, will take over the position on an interim basis and will chair the team meeting tomorrow.
