As scheduled, Motorola introduced its new foldable smartphones today. The event took place in China and for the first time we saw the presentation of two models: Motorola Razr 40 and Motorola Razr 40 Ultra.
Both models perpetuate the foldable format that popularized Motorola’s foldable smartphones, now with new attributes that the competition can and should replicate. In addition to its fantastic features, its prices now start at €799.
Motorola Razr 40 Ultra shows what a folding foldable should look like
The great novelty of the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra is its external screen, the largest that you will currently find in this market niche. Indeed, we now have a 3.6-inch AMOLED panel, with a resolution of 1066 x 1056 pixels and an image refresh rate of 144 Hz.
This panel covers almost the entire exterior of the Razr 40 Ultra according to the renders before your suggested presentation. In it, you will be free to perform any task, even watch a YouTube video without having to open your smartphone.
Inside is its main screen with LTPO AMOLED technology for a more fluid viewing experience. Indeed, we have a 6.69-inch diagonal, FHD+ resolution and a high refresh rate of 165 Hz, ideal for gaming and multimedia consumption.
At the top there will be a small hole that will house a 32 MP front camera. It’s also important to note that the Razr 40 Ultra’s fingerprint sensor will sit on its side, embedded in the power button.
We cannot talk about a folding smartphone without addressing the technology present in its hinge. In this field, Motorola has made some changes to improve the longevity and resistance of this basic component.
Motorola has now opted for a teardrop-shaped hinge and has reduced its components to 85. This approach will help enhance the robustness of the mechanism and will allow no failure to occur between the two parts of the equipment when it is closed.
Inside the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra is the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, accompanied by up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of internal storage. Its battery is 3800 mAh with 30 W wired charging and 5 W wireless charging.
In the photographic department we have a set of two sensors. Indeed, we have a 12 MP main sensor with optical image stabilization and a 13 MP wide-angle sensor that will also work for macro photography.
The Motorola Razr 40 Ultra is now available in Europe with prices starting at €1,199. It will be available in Infinite Black, Glacier Blue, and Viva Magenta with vegan leather backing.
Motorola Razr 40 brings foldable smartphones to the masses
Today we know the Motorola Razr 40, the company’s new mid-range foldable. The highlight of this model is its price that, in Europe, starts at €799.
The design and general appearance of this model does not differ much from its brother Ultra, with the obvious exception of its external screen. Now, we find a panel of just 1.5 inches that will serve to display some notifications and support selfies.
Inside is the same 6.69-inch AMOLED panel with FHD + resolution, however, its refresh rate drops to 144 Hz. The processor also changes, this time using the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 with up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of internal memory.
In the photographic section we have a 64 MP main sensor with OIS and a 13 MP wide angle. The front camera located on the internal screen of the Motorola Razr 40 is also 32 MP.
Despite the same physical dimensions, the Motorola Razr 40 arrives with a 4200 mAh battery. This model maintains the same charging speeds as the Razr 40 Ultra.
We still don’t know exactly when the Motorola Razr 40 will arrive in European stores, with the promise that this will happen soon. Available color schemes will be Sage Green, Vanilla Cream, and Summer Lilac.
