OFFICIAL: James Rodríguez has a new team
The Colombian midfielder spent more than 100 days without a team since his time at Olympiacos ended, and during that time he was linked with various clubs, including Besiktas, Botafogo and even Boca Juniors, although this last information was denied by the Argentine press. However, the name of James has been associated with Sao Paulo since June, and his incorporation into the Brazilian team has finally been finalized.
With this decision, James returns to South America after 13 years, since he left Banfield in Argentina to join Porto de Portugal in 2010. Throughout his career, he has gone through several European clubs, including Monaco, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich , Everton and Olympiacos, looking for continuity and their best football level.
Although it had initially been speculated that James would continue in Europe, his choice for Brazil is not entirely surprising, as his former Olympiacos teammate Rodinei had revealed the Colombian’s interest in playing Brazilian football.
The immediate challenge for James in Sao Paulo will be the Copa Sudamericana, where the Brazilian team will face San Lorenzo de Almagro in the round of 16. The talent and experience of James Rodríguez will undoubtedly be a significant contribution to the team in this international competition.
The signing of James has generated great anticipation in Brazil and across the continent, with Sao Paulo fans hoping that the talented Colombian midfielder will shine with his game at Morumbi Stadium and help the team achieve its season goals.
