Official: Carles Pérez, first signing of Benítez

The first signing of the Benítez era is Carles Pérez. The Catalan winger is already owned by Celta after the Vigo team agreed with Roma the transfer for just over 5 million euros. The need for the Italian team to enter money before July 1, to respect Uefa’s financial ‘Fair Play’, has been fundamental in the operation.

Thus, Luís Campos has managed to reduce the figure stipulated in the purchase option by almost half, which was 10 million euros. The good performance of Carles Pérez in his first season on loan as a sky blue player, especially in the second part of the championship, has convinced the leaders from Vigo to tackle the hiring of the attacker from Granollers.

The first signing of the Benítez era signed the new contract with Celta until June 2027. This Monday he will be placed under the orders of the new sky blue coach at the Ciudad Deportiva Afouteza, in what will be the first training session for the Madrid coach at the helm of the Vigo team.

Carles Pérez’s numbers in his first season have been satisfactory. Without continuity in the first part of the season with Coudet in charge, the arrival of Carvalhal served to recover the best version of him and thus become the undisputed starter. He finished the campaign with five goals and six assists in 38 games (35 in the League and three in the Cup).
