The Indian Army has banned Friday prayers to quell anti-India protests in occupied Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the valley remained in mourning on the second day of the death of senior Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Gilani. The Indian Army banned Friday prayers to avoid possible protests.
Clashes erupted between youths and occupying forces over Friday prayers, while internet and mobile phone services were still suspended.
Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Gilani has died
The Indian Army has imposed a curfew in the occupied valley and all roads leading to the house of the late leader are still closed.
A large number of Kashmiris on both sides of the Kashmir Valley also offered in-absentia funeral prayers for the late leader Syed Ali Gilani.
It is to be noted that Syed Ali Gilani passed away 2 days ago after a long illness. He was suffering from heart disease while in 2007 he was also diagnosed with kidney cancer.
