The OC Barcelos once again proved their European championship win was no fluke. They took down Benfica 4-1 at home in game 2 of the play-off.
Danilo Rampulla was the star of the show. He played with a cast on his left hand due to a broken finger. This injury had kept him out of the first semi-final game.
In the 15th minute, Rampulla put his team ahead. He got a great pass from Chambella and beat Pedro Henriques.
Four minutes later, João Rodrigues tied the game. He scored an amazing goal, almost like a baseball play. This happened after the Barcelos goalie blocked a shot from Nil Roca.
In the second half, Miguel Rocha led a counter-attack. He set up Chambella perfectly, and Chambella scored. This put the European champs back in the lead.
Benfica tried to come back, but they couldn’t score. With less than five minutes left, Pedro Silva made it 3-1. He got an assist from Rampulla.
In the final minute, the home team got a free kick. Miguel Rocha made it 4-1, putting the game out of reach.
This win not only tied the semi-final series 1-1 but also ended Benfica’s 20-game undefeated streak away from home. Their last loss was in late November at the Dragão Arena.
For OC Barcelos, this is only their second win in a play-off semi-final game. Their first win was back in 2007.
