This weekend during Star Wars Celebration, Lucasfilm shed some light on the upcoming series and film projects. One of the big losers of these revelations is Obi-Wan, whose season 2 no longer seems to be part of the studio’s plans. During an interview with Variety, Kathleen Kennedypresident of Lucasfilm, confirmed thatno season 2 of Obi-Wan Kenobi was planned. However, she added thatEwan McGregor was always interested in reprise his role as Obi-Wan.

“Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2 is not in development. But I never say never, because there is always a possibility. This series was very well received and (director) Deborah Chow did a spectacular job. Ewan McGregor really wants to do another one. Everyone is on deck with what we’re doing right now, as you can see from what we showed everyone (during the celebration). We will look at this subject again, perhaps later. »

The president of lucasfilm also took the opportunity to provide an update on the film Star Wars of Taika Waititiwhich was notably absent from the announcements of lucasfilm during the Celebration.

“Taika is still working. He writes the screenplay himself. He doesn’t really want to involve other people in this process and I don’t blame him. He has a very, very unique voice. So we want to protect her and that’s what he does. But we will do it one day”.
