NVIDIA RTX 40-Series Smooth Motion Update Boosts Non-Frame Gen Game FPS

Good news for PC gamers this week. NVIDIA is bringing a fresh update to its current line of graphics cards. Owners of RTX 40-Series cards can look forward to smoother gameplay. The company is rolling out a new feature called Smooth Motion. It aims to boost frame rates in many games that don’t already support Frame Generation technology.

NVIDIA recently confirmed this update. They made the announcement just before Gamescom 2025. Smooth Motion will allow RTX 40-Series cards to deliver a much smoother experience. The goal is to nearly double frame rates in games not built for Frame Generation. Users will find the settings for this new tech within the NVIDIA App. We expect to see a full demonstration of Smooth Motion on August 20th during Gamescom.

How well does it work? PC Gamer tested the new feature. They reported that games indeed felt much smoother. While the frame rates didn’t quite double, many titles saw impressive gains. Performance often jumped by 30 to 40 percent. Importantly, the visuals remained crisp and clear during these tests. You can read more about their findings on PC Gamer’s website.

It’s great to see NVIDIA bringing modern features to its current-gen graphics cards. This move should help users get more life out of their hardware. It means their cards can handle newer games better. While adjusting settings in the NVIDIA App might take a moment, the performance boost seems worth it. We’ll keep an eye out for more details on this and other upcoming updates.
