NVIDIA Developing New B30A Blackwell AI Chip for China, Stronger than H20

Tech giant NVIDIA is quietly developing a new artificial intelligence chip. This chip is designed specifically for the Chinese market. It aims to offer more power than the current H20 chips, which are allowed for sale in China by the United States.

The new chip carries the working name B30A. It steps up the technology, using NVIDIA’s newer Blackwell architecture. The H20, by comparison, relies on the older Hopper design. The B30A will be a single-die chip. Early estimates suggest its processing ability will be about half that of the B300, which is built from two connected chips.

Like the H20, the B30A will include high-bandwidth memory. It will also use NVLink technology. This tech helps data move very fast between different processing units.

NVIDIA has not yet finalized all the details for the B30A. Even so, the company hopes to send test versions to its Chinese customers. They are aiming to do this as early as September.

NVIDIA mentioned it’s always evaluating different products for its long-term plans. They aim to stay competitive within what governments permit. The company made it clear that all chips sold have official approval from the relevant agencies. And these powerful chips are strictly for business use, not anything else.
