Nuno Borges pulled off an incredible come-from-behind win, taking down Kyrian Jacquet in a grueling five-set match that lasted over three and a half hours. The Portuguese tennis star, ranked 41st in the world, found himself down 0-2 but fought back to claim the win.
The match was a nail-biter, with Borges ultimately emerging victorious with a score of 3-6, 6-7 (3-7), 6-4, 6-3, and 6-3. The crowd was on the edge of their seats as the match stretched past midnight in Paris.
Borges sealed the deal by breaking Jacquet’s serve in the sixth game of the fifth set, taking a 4-2 lead. He then closed out the match on his own serve, winning 5-3. This marks his second consecutive year making it to the second round of the French Open.
Next up, the 28-year-old will face the winner of Monday’s match between Norway’s Casper Ruud, ranked seventh in the world, and Spain’s Albert Ramos-Viñolas, ranked 248th. Borges will look to keep his momentum going as he takes on his next opponent.
