NOW’s ‘Reporter Saturday’ Tops Info TV, Doubles Competitor Audiences

A new investigative news program broadcast on Portugal’s NOW channel has significantly outdrawn established competitors, marking a strong entry into the competitive national news market.

The program, “Repórter Sábado,” attracted an average of 144,000 viewers per minute for its latest episode, becoming the most-watched information program yesterday. This performance more than doubled the audience of one major rival.

The episode, which featured an investigation by journalist Cláudia Rosenbush into illegal races, achieved a 3.7% audience share.

In the same time slot, CNN Portugal recorded 131,000 viewers per minute. SIC Notícias drew 61,500 viewers per minute and a 1.6% share, less than half of NOW’s viewership during that period.

NOW is a new television project from Medialivre, a Portuguese media group. It aggregates content from publications such as Sábado, Negócios, Máxima, and Record.

The channel is available on major Portuguese cable and satellite providers including MEO, NOS, and Vodafone, on channel position 9.

The audience figures cited are measured by GFK.

An upcoming episode tonight will feature an investigation by journalist Ana Leal into a taxi mafia operating in parts of Lisbon. It is scheduled to air at 10:40 PM local time.
