Why does Kuldeep get a chance?
Leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal knows why Kuldeep Yadav is preferred to him in the ODI format and he has no worries about making Asian Cup and World Cup rosters. Chahal was not selected to the Playing 11 in the three ODI series against the West Indies. He competed in the first T20 match, which was his first post-IPL match. He took two wickets on his first over of the match. However, India lost the game by four runs.
The right combination is our priority – Chahal
Chahal said ahead of the second T20 game that team composition is our top priority and that’s nothing new. At number 7, we usually choose Ravindra Jadeja or Akshar Patel. If the wicket prefers spinners, we only use three spinners. He said that Kuldeep bowls really well and has a great rhythm and that’s why the team supports him. I train hard on the net so I can take advantage of every opportunity that comes my way.
Chahal did not play in the ODI format
The focus is on the ODIs ahead of the World Cup in India in October and November, but Chahal hasn’t played in that format since January. However, the 33-year-old is happy to be part of the team. Chahal said that we are professional cricketers. I play after two months. Before that I played my last match in the IPL. It’s about preparation. This is not a solo game. You have to play for the team.
