Novak Djokovic Beats Nuno Borges 7-6, 6-4, Advances to Athens ATP 250 Semifinals

Novak Djokovic advanced to the semifinals of the ATP 250 Athens tournament on Friday, defeating Nuno Borges in a two-set quarterfinal match where the Portuguese player received medical attention for a knee injury.

Djokovic, ranked fifth globally, secured his spot with a 7-6 (1), 6-4 victory over Borges, who is ranked 47th.

The first set was tightly contested, extending to a tie-break after Borges had two uncoverted break-point opportunities.

The Serbian champion ultimately dominated the tie-break, winning it 7-1.

In the second set, Djokovic broke Borges’s serve to take a 4-3 lead.

Borges, during a stoppage at 5-4 in the set, complained of right knee pain and received on-court treatment from a physiotherapist.

Djokovic then closed out the match to secure his place in the Greek tournament’s final four.
