Notorious LockBit Ransomware Gang Reportedly Hacked by Competitor, Sensitive Data Exposed

LockBit, a notorious ransomware gang, has apparently been hacked itself. A mysterious post on the group’s dark web site revealed the breach. Experts are backing up the claim.

The message on LockBit’s site read, “Don’t do crime CRIME IS BAD xoxo from Prague.” It linked to what seemed like leaked data from the group. Reuters couldn’t immediately verify the data’s authenticity.

The leaked info included chat screenshots between LockBit hackers and their victims. Cybersecurity experts who reviewed the data said it was genuine. Jon DiMaggio, chief security strategist at Analyst1, a cybersecurity firm, called the breach “embarrassing” for LockBit.

Christiaan Beek from Rapid7 found the leaked data convincing. He noted it showed LockBit targeting small businesses for small payouts.
