First of all, this is not an update that you will receive “normally” (via OTA) in the settings of your smartphone. It’s something you have to let go of. This means that you have to download a package that Nothing provides on the official website, and follow a series of steps that you can check at the following link.

How to install Android 14 Beta 1 on Nothing Phone (1)

Like any test build, this developer preview of Android 14 is in the development phase. This means that if Phone (1) is your primary smartphone, it is not recommended to install this version due to the inherent problems.

The brand warns that fingerprints may not be registered, that the facial unlocking, battery sharing or Glyph functions may no longer be available. Portrait or slow motion mode may not be available in the camera app, and the Nothing Weather and Nothing X apps will not be pre-installed. Screen to TV casting will also not be available.

Given these inconveniences, you should keep in mind that you have to save all your data and files before updating. This is because all the data will be erased from the device once you start the process. In case you regret the update, Nothing also shares on the same page the steps to go back to the stable version of Android 13. Happy testing!
