Nothing Phone (1) confirms the best features on Geekbench

As we draw closer to the official unveiling of Nothing’s inaugural smartphone, the Phone Nothing (1), information leaks are intensifying, both in quantity and content. In fact, we now see that the smartphone confirms its most important technical characteristics, such as the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778+ processor.

This confirmation emanates from its passage through the testing and benchmarking platform, Geekbench. This is where a good part of the new mobile phones come to test their capabilities before being presented. The best of all? These test rounds are accompanied by a record of the main specifications of each product, thus serving as confirmation.

Nothing Phone (1) will use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 778+ chipset

The list presented below shows the amount of RAM memory present in the tested version of the smartphone, as well as the respective score in these tests. We also have the technical description of the processor, without detailing the name of the model, but specifying its general characteristics. In addition, the version of the operating system in use is also indicated.

So here we have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778+ (for the nuclear description). The mobile phone is codenamed “Lahaina” and has a maximum processing frequency of 2.52 GHz, which should represent the largest and most powerful core of this chipset. We also have three additional cores clocked at a maximum of 2.4 GHz.

In addition, we also have the reference to four other cores with a maximum processing frequency of 1.80 GHz, referring here to the smallest and most efficient cores.

Up to 8 GB of RAM and Google’s Android 12 operating system

It is important to note that the processor snapdragon 778+ it is, as the name suggests, a top iteration of the Snapdragon 778, itself a mid/high-end chipset. We have some performance improvements, namely a main core clocked at 2.5 GHz, compared to 2.4 GHz in the previous version. On top of that, we have 20% graphical improvements thanks to the Adreno 642L.

In summary, although this is not a high-end chipset, let alone a high-end chipset, we have no doubt that the performance can be excellent, if combined with good software. Proof of this are the scores obtained by the Nothing Phone smartphone (1) with 797 points in the tests single core and 2803 test points multicore.

Furthermore, the use of this processor will allow Nothing to maintain a competitive price for the product. Something that, by the way, can be of crucial importance for the manufacturer to establish itself in the market in this first phase. We also know that the phone will feature Google’s Android 12 operating system, with its own interface.

Nothing Phone smartphone (1) can only be purchased by invitation

We also learned that, as in the early days of OnePlus, a company co-founded by Carl Pei, the current CEO of Nothing, the product can only be purchased by invitation. It is a guarantee of exclusivity and, for the company, an efficient way of managing production volume and ensuring that it does not have (many) surplus units in its warehouses. This thesis is now advanced by the portal XDA Developers And it turns out to be perfectly plausible.

It should also be noted that the publication refers to “initial sales”, so at a later stage the Nothing mobile may be sold like any other mobile device on the market.
