Nothing Launches CMF Phone 2 Pro with Modular Design and 50MP Zoom Camera

Nothing’s budget-friendly CMF brand has just launched its first Pro smartphone, the CMF Phone 2 Pro. This phone builds on the quirky design of its predecessor but with some major camera upgrades.

The phone’s main camera has a 50-megapixel sensor, the same as the previous model, but it’s now bigger at 1/1.57 inches. This lets it capture 64% more light. It can record 4K video at 30 frames per second and 1080p at 60 frames per second. The phone also uses AI to help reduce shaky footage.

Unlike its predecessor, the CMF Phone 2 Pro has two rear cameras. The second is a 50-megapixel telephoto lens with a 1/2.88-inch sensor and f/1.85 aperture. It can zoom in 2x without losing quality and up to 20x digitally. The phone also has an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera with a 119.5-degree field of view. The front camera remains at 16 megapixels.

Modular Design Takes Center Stage

One cool feature of the CMF Phone 2 Pro is its modular design. The phone’s case is removable and can be swapped out for different colors and designs. But what’s really interesting is that the camera system is also modular. You can buy extra lenses, like a macro lens or a fisheye lens, that attach to the phone’s main camera. These lenses add new features to the phone’s camera without needing to buy a whole new phone.

The phone’s screen is also bigger now, at 6.77 inches, and has a higher refresh rate of 120 Hz. It’s also got 10-bit color and supports HDR10+ content. The screen is protected by Panda Glass and can get as bright as 3,000 nits.

The phone’s body is now thinner and lighter, measuring 7.8 mm thick and weighing 185 grams. It’s also got a slightly better dust and water resistance rating of IP54. The battery remains at 5,000 mAh, but the phone now supports 33W charging. According to Nothing, the battery can last up to 22 hours of YouTube watching or 10 hours of gaming.

Under the Hood

The CMF Phone 2 Pro is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset, which is a step up from the previous model. The CPU is 10% faster, and the GPU is 5% faster. The phone runs on Nothing OS 3.2, based on Android 15. It will get software updates for three years and security patches for six years.

The phone also now supports NFC for contactless payments, which was missing in the previous model.

  • 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage: 250 euros
