Nothing, a company created by Carl Pei of OnePlus, plans to release a phone in 2021

Carl Pei, co-founder of OnePlus, left the company he created to found a new company called Nothing.

Nothing launched its first product a few months ago: the Nothing Ear 1 wireless headphones. They offered an attractive, or at least exclusive, design with decent sound quality at a competitive price.

However, given Carl Pei’s background as co-founder of OnePlus, it was very likely that we would see a Nothing phone in the future.

Well, it looks like these rumors may now make sense, since a well-known source called Sharma Mukul says Nothing is currently working on its first smartphone and could enter the phone market in early 2022.

At the moment, the leaks on the first Nothing phone come here. However, considering Nothing’s recent association with Qualcomm, We can assume that Nothing Phone 1 will load one of the chips from the chip manufacturer.

Nothing acquired the company behind the Essential Phone in early 2021, which is further proof that Nothing is working on its first smartphone. Having Essential’s experts, patents, software and hardware will certainly come in handy for Nothing.

However, it is to be expected that Nothing’s efforts in the smartphone market will be more successful than those of Essential.

In addition to the possible first Nothing smartphone, Mukul Sharma also talks about working on an energy bank that should arrive later this year: the Nothing Power 1.
