Norway’s Moeller Takes Bormio Crown Amid Odermatt’s Shocking Downfall

Swiss Skiers Dominate the Slopes in Bormio

The Stelvio of Bormio once again proved to be a challenging course for skiers, with the third Super-G of the season taking place amidst the stunning Lombard morning. The surprise victory in the Descent went to Alexis Monney, the last pearl of the Swiss team, while Norwegian Fredrick Moeller took the top spot in the Super-G, followed closely by Austrian Vincent Kriechmayr.

The Swiss team’s dominance was evident, with four out of the top six skiers being from Switzerland. This impressive performance has solidified their position in the Nations Cup, making it increasingly likely that they will take home the title.

A Dramatic Start to the Super-G

The Super-G event was marked by a dramatic start, with Swiss skier Gino Caviezel suffering a brutal fall that left him rolling down the jump. The race was halted, and Caviezel was evacuated by helicopter, leaving the other skiers to wait anxiously for the restart.

After a 20-minute delay, Austrian Daniel Hemetsberger set out to tackle the course, setting a time of 1:29.88. However, it was Norwegian Fredrick Moeller who significantly reduced Hemetsberger’s time, finishing with a -0.66 margin.

A Thrilling Finish

As the skiers continued to tackle the challenging course, the competition heated up. Super Marco Odermatt, the best in each of the specialties, struggled with serious problems at the top, ultimately failing to enter the top three.

Meanwhile, Fredrick Moeller’s impressive performance earned him the top spot, with Vincent Kriechmayr coming in second. The Norwegian’s victory marked his debut on the list of winners, solidifying his position in the Supergiant classification.
