North Korea reports failed attempt to launch 1st military spy satellite

North Korea said Wednesday that its attempt to launch its first military spy satellite was a failure.

In a statement published in state media, North Korea said the rocket carrying the spy satellite crashed in waters off the west coast of the Korean Peninsula after losing power after the separation of the first and second stages.

He added that scientists are already analyzing the cause of the problem.

Hours earlier, the South Korean military said the North Korean rocket had “an abnormal flight” before collapsing into the sea.
