Norceca Tournament will award two places for the Central American Games

A total of two places for the Central American and Caribbean Games in El Salvador will be contested at the Norceca and Pan American Modern Pentathlon Championships, a contest that will take place from August 16 to 21 in this capital.

The announcement was made by Freddy Núñez Jorge, president of the Dominican Federation of Modern Pentathlon (FEDOPEM) during the press conference in which all the details of the contest were given.

The meeting was headed by Antonio Acosta, president of the Dominican Olympic Committee, who highlighted the importance of holding this event and immediately bet on its success.

During his speech, Núñez Jorge stated that for several weeks he has been working hard on all organizational aspects concerning the event so that it can be carried out with the greatest possible success.

He added that practically everything is ready for the Dominicans to witness a high-level fair, in which the best existing modern pentathlon talent in America will participate.

He maintained that 11 countries have already confirmed their participation in it and starting on the 14th, the bulk of the sister nations that will be present will begin to arrive.

These are Mexico, Venezuela, Cuba, Guatemala, Colombia, Canada, the United States, Uruguay, Argentina, Brazil and the Dominican Republic.

“We will celebrate a major event, I would say, with a high level, because the talent of men and women who will visit us is immense,” said Núñez Jorge during his speech.

About 60 athletes will act in it, divided into female and male, who are duly registered.

On his side, Acosta said that as the Olympic Committee his great mission is always to provide support to the different federations and pondered that the Dominican athletes will seek to obtain their achievements, although he understands that the commitment will be immense.

Rafael Cordero Haché, who will be the general director, and José Luis Ramírez, treasurer of the COD, also spoke at the activity.

Haché said that a great event is already prepared, that it will be brilliant both competitively and artistically,” he said.

The fencing, swimming, shooting and athletics activities will take place at the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center, while the equestrian competitions will be directed by the Colonel of the Army of the Dominican Republic, Martin Hache, and will be held at the indoor arena of the Dominican Federation of Equestrian, in Palmarejo.
