Remember Nokia’s super-tough feature phones? Get ready for a comeback. Word on the street is a new version of the Nokia 800 Tough is on its way. This news follows a recent agreement between HMD Global and Nokia. In September 2025, they extended their licensing deal for several more years. This means HMD will keep making and selling Nokia feature phones. Nokia itself will also stay a key player in the global feature phone market.
Both companies are now developing a new feature phone together. It will focus on being super durable. It will also come with a large keypad. This is good news for anyone who needs a phone built to last.
A tech insider, HMD_MEME’S, posted on X about the upcoming device. They shared that HMD and Nokia are working on the second generation of the Nokia 800 Tough. The first one came out in 2019. This new version will also be all about toughness.

The reports suggest the new Nokia 800 Tough will have only minor design tweaks. It will switch from a microUSB port, found on the first model, to a modern USB-C. The operating system will also get an upgrade. It moves from KaiOS 2.5.2 to KaiOS 3.1.
The tipster also showed off rendered images of the new phone. It looks very similar to the original. You can still see a single camera on the back. There’s also an LED flash and a speaker grille.
The new phone is expected to keep its rugged nature. It should feature IP68 water and dust resistance. This protects it in 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes. It will also meet military-grade MIL-STD-810G durability standards. These standards mean it can handle harsh conditions. Think extreme heat, cold, rain, sand, and strong vibrations. These features were also present in the first model.

Most of the other specs are likely to match the original Nokia 800 Tough.
- It will have a 2.4-inch TFT screen. The display resolution is 240 x 320 pixels.
- The phone will use a Qualcomm Snapdragon 205 chipset. This chip is 28 nanometers. It runs at up to 1.1 GHz, with a Cortex-A7 CPU. Graphics are handled by an Adreno 304 chip.
- It will support 4G LTE for internet access.
- The device will come with 512 MB of RAM.
- It will have 4 GB of internal storage.
- A 2-megapixel camera will be on the back.
- Power comes from a 2,100 mAh battery.
- It also includes an FM radio receiver.
The new phone is expected to cost a bit more. The original Nokia 800 Tough launched in 2019. It sold for 110 Euros.
