No matter what, don’t leave the ballot box: Kuluchdarulu

Opposition candidate Kemal Kuluchdarulu said, I want to call on our heroes of democracy. Never leave the ballot box before giving the final signed ballot box report, no matter what.

Voting for presidential and parliamentary elections is underway in Turkey today. Voting begins at 8 am local time in Turkey. Voting will continue till 5 pm.

This is one of the most significant elections in the 100-year history of modern Turkey. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has been in power in the country for 20 years. Today’s election will decide whether President Erdoğan can stay in power or not.

According to various opinion polls, Erdoğan’s main rival Kemal Külüçdarülü is slightly ahead in the presidential election. Kuluchdarulu is leading the alliance of six opposition parties.

If a candidate fails to get more than 50 percent of the votes, the election will be held in a second round. In that case, the second round of voting will be held on May 28.

According to Turkey’s electoral law, any news about the results is prohibited until 9pm on the day of the polls. Whether the presidential election will be held in the second phase or not, the indication can be obtained by late night.
