Nintendo Switch: playing N64 and Mega Drive games will cost more

Nintendo has announced the arrival of Nintendo 64 and Mega Drive games on its Online service. To take advantage of it, you will have to pay an additional cost in addition to the classic subscription. This service will arrive at the end of October.

The Nintendo Switch Online subscription brings several benefits, such as cloud saving, online play but also the ability to play old NES and Super NES games. Nintendo has announced the upcoming arrival of Nintendo 64 titles, but also Mega Drive on its service. However, it will not be free.

It was during its Nintendo Direct that the Kyoto company announced the news. To take advantage of this offer, it will be necessary to subscribe to what is called an “Additional Pack”. Thus, it will be necessary to pay the subscription of 3.99 euros per month as well as a small bonus. However, Nintendo has not yet announced the amount of this additional subscription.

Nintendo offers an additional cost to enjoy old games

Such a practice is curious, especially to enjoy retro games that are more than 25 years old, but Nintendo has already accustomed us to this kind of process. Note that to accompany this release scheduled for the end of October, two modernized controllers of N64 and Mega Drive will be sold commercially at 50 euros each.
