Nintendo Switch 2 Priced in Japan at 69,980 Yen and 49,980 Yen

The curtain’s finally lifting on the Nintendo Switch 2. We’ve got the lowdown on its specs, launch date, and pricing for Japan.

The Japanese market will see two versions: a multi-language edition and a Japan-only edition locked to Japanese accounts. The multi-language version is priced at 69,980 yen, while the Japan-only edition comes in at 49,980 yen. This significant price difference is likely due to global market and currency factors.

So, what’s under the hood? The Switch 2 boasts a 7.9-inch screen with a 1080p resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It also supports HDR. The Joy-Con controllers have larger SL/SR buttons and analog sticks, and they’re now attached to the console using magnets. You can even use the Joy-Con as a mouse. A new C Button allows for in-game chat with friends, and there’s a built-in mic with noise cancellation. The console features two USB-C ports, 256GB of internal storage, and can output 4K at 60FPS when docked. The dock itself has a fan for heat dissipation, and it’s backwards compatible with games from previous Switch models.

Launch Details

The Switch 2 hits Japanese stores on June 5. As for other regions, we can expect it to land sometime between July and September 2025. Nintendo has confirmed plans to launch the eShop and Nintendo Switch Online service in Thailand, marking a significant expansion into new markets.

With these specs and features, the Nintendo Switch 2 is shaping up to be a major player in the gaming world. We’ll be keeping a close eye on its release and seeing how it stacks up against the competition.
