Nintendo Defends $80 Price Tag for Mario Kart World Game

Bill Trinen, Nintendo of America’s Vice President of Product and Player Experience, recently spoke with IGN about the upcoming Mario Kart World game. He defended the game’s $80 price tag, stating it’s justified due to the game’s massive size and content.

Trinen explained that the price is based on the game’s value, not just marketing strategies. He claimed Mario Kart World offers the most comprehensive Mario Kart experience to date, with a huge world to explore, numerous secrets to uncover, and plenty of content to keep players engaged.

The game’s size and scope are unprecedented, with many small details and secrets for players to discover. Trinen believes that once players experience the game, they’ll find it to be the perfect Mario Kart experience.

This justification also applies to other Switch games, such as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which are also priced at $80. Trinen argued that these games offer a high level of value and content, making the price tag reasonable.
