Mexico City: Nine people were killed and more than 90 injured in a stampede at the Cuscatalan football stadium in San Salvador, the capital of Salvador.

The Salvadoran headquarters gave details of the incident, saying that the tragedy was caused by the sale of fake tickets and that frustrated and angry fans tried to force their way into the stadium.

Salvadoran Vice President Buquel said in a Twitter message that the incident would be fully investigated and assured that those found guilty would not escape punishment.

On the other hand, the media has quoted eyewitnesses as saying that the police fired tear gas shells outside the stadium, which caused a stampede.
