Nice: a positive summer assessment despite the health crisis

With an average occupancy rate for hotels of 68% in July and 91.2% in August, the results of the summer season were a good vintage for the capital of the Riviera, according to figures released on Monday by the Nice metropolis. French Riviera.

The Covid did not get the better of the tourist crowds. Proof of this is the number of reservations in the city’s hotels: “the average occupancy rate was 68% in July with peaks of 85% in the last 10 days. In August, it rose to 91.2%, the highest level on the Côte d’Azur, with several peaks at 97.9% ”.

Results much better than initial forecasts and which are reminiscent of those of 2019, considered an excellent vintage.

The French represented the majority of tourists (52%), coming mostly from Ile de France, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Hauts-de-France or Occitanie… Foreigners did not shy away from their pleasure, but in mostly those from neighboring countries: Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Scandinavia, Switzerland …

Note also the presence of tourists from the United States (who could come to France, while it was very complicated to go to the USA, note) thanks to the reopening of the Nice-New York line by Delta Airlines

“A permanent cultural offer”

For the mayor of Nice, these good results are largely due to the communication campaign and the cultural programming put in place. “We have offered 250 events in the past 2 months. A permanent cultural offer. Enough to ensure extremely strong attractiveness ”.

And the month of September should not be outdone. “The reservation rate is already 36% for this off-season,” assures the elected official.
