NFT project got $3 million to move from Solana to Polygon

The team behind the non-fungible token (NFT) projects y00ts and DeGods received a total of $3 million to move its collections from Solana (SOL) to Polygon (MATIC). This is according to a January 6 announcement from the company. The statement that the company published in Discord was posted on Twitter by founder Frank III.

Solana’s end?

The developers of the projects announced in late December that the two NFT collections would be moving to Polygon on Ethereum (ETH). Initially, this was seen as a potential death knell for Solana, as the network was already under severe strain due to the collapse of FTX.

In a poll organized by the controversial Ben “Bitboy” Armstrong, a 69.5 percent majority said they expect this to be the end for Solana. We should not forget that these are the two largest NFT projects of the network. Frank III says:

“We didn’t accept this deal for the money. That is only a nice bonus and we will use it effectively. We do this because it is the most interesting direction for y00ts to go as a project.”

I’m not going to buy a Lambo

Frank III also indicates that he does not want to buy a Lamborghini with the money from the switch. “I’m not going to buy a Lambo,” said Frank III. In other words, the team does not want to use the money for its own consumption, but to use it to attract new employees and further develop the company.

On the other hand, we have yet to see that, because those kinds of promises are made more often in this industry and are not kept. The goal with the funds is in any case to take the adoption of the collections to a higher level.

Meanwhile, Solana already seems to be recovering from the departures of y00ts and DeGods, at least for now, as the new memecoin Bonk is causing massive activity on the platform.
