NFL Playoffs 2022: Trevor Lawrence and Justin Herbert, among the rookie quarterbacks in the postseason

the nfl Super Wild Card weekend will begin this Saturday with the duel between the San Francisco 49ers and the seattles seahawks at Levi’s Stadium. However, every game in the first round of the playoffs is attractive for multiple reasons.

One of them is that of the 14 starting quarterbacks who will participate in the 2022 playoffs, half will play in the NFL postseason for the first time in their career.

Trevor Lawrence | Jacksonville Jaguars

The first player selected in the 2021 Draft he only needed one season and the mentorship of Doug Pederson to advance to the playoffs. ‘The Prince Who Was Promised’ doubled the number of touchdowns (12 to 25) and cut interceptions in half (17 to 8) between his rookie year and his second year in the NFL. Justin Herbert | Los Angeles Chargers

The Oregon graduate completed 68.2 percent of his throws for 4,739 yards with 25 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

Tyler Huntley | Baltimore Ravens

Of all the debuting quarterbacks in the 2022 postseason, Tyler Huntley is the only one who went undrafted. Since 2020 he has been part of the substitutes for lamar jackson and now that the MVP of 2019 was ruled out for the game against the Cincinnati Bengals, Huntley will be the starter. The Utah Utes product started four of the six games he played in 2022 and generated 658 passing yards and 127 rushing yards.

Skylar Thompson | Miami Dolphins

Tua Tagovailoa’s concussions during the regular season and Teddy Bridgewater’s knee injury caused the Dolphins to turn to Skylar Thompson for the playoff game against the Bills. The rookies 25 years he started the New York Jets’ final regular season game and completed 20 of 31 throws for 152 yards.

Daniel Jones | new york giants

Jones’ growth under Brian Daboll’s care was undeniable. In his first season under the new head coach, the 25-year-old QB had the lowest interception percentage in the league with just five of 472 passes attempted. Plus, he showed that he can be a consistent dual threat with 708 rushing yards and seven touchdowns plus another 3,205 yards and 15 passing touchdowns.

Brock Purdy | san francisco 49ers

Purdy’s story is amazing. Of Mr. Irrelevant to be part of the success of the San Francisco 49ers in the 2022 season after the losses of Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo. The rookie has been a big part of the Niners’ last six victories after completing 68.3 of their throws, racking up 1,308 yards with 13 touchdown passes and three interceptions.

Gene Smith | seattle seahawks

Smith earned his first Pro Bowl invite after nine NFL seasons after arriving as a second-round pick in the 2013 Draft. The West Virginia graduate led the NFL in completion percentage with 69.8 and generated 4,282 yards with 30 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
