Earlier this week we wrote about the news that Twitter is working on its own coin. Initially, there was a positive response from the Dogecoin community. Could this mean that Dogecoin’s integration into Twitter is one step closer? However, according to a well-known influencer from the Dogecoin world, this is not the case.
Bad news for Dogecoin
If it’s up to Mishaboar, a well-known name within the Dogecoin community, the so-called Twitter Coin is not good news at all. “What does this mean for Dogecoin? Nothing. First, because the future of Dogecoin does not depend on Twitter. […] Also, the leak seems to point to multi-currency support,” said Mishaboar.
At the moment, there is simply little clarity about Twitter Coin and what the platform is planning to do. For the time being there is still relatively little and, apart from a few images and some code, nothing is known about the project. “The problem is the speculation based on a few rumors and tweets. Elon hinted at the option to pay with Doge in his tweets […] but until the official announcements, it is only speculation based on rumours,” concludes Mishaboar.
What is going on?
A few days ago, Nima Owji (@nima_owji) leaked a snippet of code and an image of a gold Twitter coin indicating that the platform is working on its own coin. It is no surprise that the Dogecoin community jumped on this right away. Immediately after the news, the Dogecoin price shot up by 7 percent. In any case, Mishaboard tries to dampen the enthusiasm by stating that it is still pure speculation at the moment.
On the other hand, the influencer acknowledges that Twitter’s adoption of Dogecoin would be fantastic for the memecoin. He also emphasizes that the adoption for Twitter is not the end station for Doge. It would be nice if Twitter adopts Dogecoin, but according to Mishaboard, there is much more to come for the memecoin.
