New shooting in Cavaillon against a background of drug trafficking

A new shooting broke out on Wednesday in Cavaillon between gangs of drug traffickers. This, for the second time in two days.

A 20-year-old man was shot in the arm twice. Four people were arrested and the Avignon judicial service was seized of the investigation.

This new case illustrates the scenes of violence which are repeated in this town in Vaucluse. Last July, images showed shooting scenes in the middle of homes.

“The city of Doctor Ayme is very sensitive because it is geographically located in a very interesting place for consumers and buyers. So inevitably, it attracts the greed of a competing network in place in Avignon ”, explains to CNEWS Bruno Bartocetti, national secretary in charge of the southern zone of the SGP Police Unit union.

Lack of staff

Despite the visit of the Minister of the Interior on August 16 and the deployment of CRS personnel, Cavaillon suffers from a lack of police personnel.

“The police station is relatively small, undersized in relation to the needs and in relation to the resurgence of violence in this city”, deplores David-Olivier Reverdy, national secretary Province Alliance. And to continue: “when there are not enough of them to come and patrol this particular city, so as to stifle traffic by our presence, we expose ourselves to settling of scores”.
