The young Mexican talent, Julián Araujo, has been loaned from FC Barcelona to UD Las Palmas, in a deal which has been confirmed as a total between the two clubs. After a six-month spell without playing due to Barça’s late registration, Araujo will now have the opportunity to show his qualities in the First Division with the Canarian outfit.
The decision to send Araujo to UD Las Palmas was taken after Barcelona manager Xavi Hernández had the chance to see the player in training. Although they received offers from clubs in Mexico and the United States, the Catalan club made it clear that they preferred Julián to stay in Europe to gain experience and continue his development as a footballer.
Porto’s option was considered, but Barça could not guarantee Araujo the number of minutes he would need to progress. It was then that interest from UD Las Palmas became decisive, as they offered the young defender the perfect opportunity to shine in a competitive Spanish league, and the relationship with the Canaries is excellent.
A season to adapt to the Spanish league
Julián Araujo’s loan to UD Las Palmas will last until the end of the season, with no signing option. The Canarian club are confident that the player will adapt quickly to European football and that he can return to Barcelona in the future, with more experience and football maturity to be the big right-wing solution that the Catalans have been looking for for years.
