New opportunity for Deulofeu

Gerard Deulofeu (Riudarenes, 1994) has found his place in Italy and a severe injury to his right knee has not made Udinese lose confidence in him. The Spanish winger has renewed until 2026 despite the fact that he has not played since last January. “I’m very happy. Experience has taught me that I need to be happy where I am, and here I am”he explained after signing his new contract.

Until his injury in January, the Barca squad player had scored three goals and provided seven assists. The previous season, he had signed his best goalscoring year since he left Barça. The sensations could not be better, but the injury slowed him down. “I feel very well, the body is responding to the rehabilitation. I can’t give a return date, but I’m working to play again as soon as possible.” In addition, Deulofeu sets a medium-term goal with Udinese: “I want to become a symbol of the club, fight for the captain’s armband. Many champions have passed through here and if I have renewed myself it is because I hope to be like them. If I can’t set an example on the pitch, I’ll give it my all from the outside to help the boys”.

Deulofeu, since he left Barcelona in 2013, has gone through Everton, Sevilla, Milan and Watford. However, he had never felt as protagonist as at Udinese, with whom, in 2021-22, he signed a brilliant year. The fans hope that he recovers that level after his injury and so does he, in order to find the regularity that he has sought so much throughout his career.
